People and Population

The population of Prachuap Khiri Khan province (retrieved from the DOPA‘s Official Statistics Registration Systems) as of December 2017 was 543,979 (274,877 women to 269,102 men, or 50.54 to 49.46%).

The population is generally dispersed across the province’s eight districts, with the largest concentration of people based around the economically active northern flank consisting of Greater Hua Hin and Pranburi – popular seaside resort tourism destinations – where more than a third of the province’s registered residents reside, or about 180,000 residents.

In comparison, the administrative and provincial seat – Muang Prachhuap Khiri Khan District – in the center of the province is the second-most populated area of the province, home to about 17% per cent of the province’s registered residents.

Much of the province’s residents live in semi-rural communities, with the population statistics broken down as follows:
